Located in the heart of the historic town of Tarascon, at the foot of the Alpilles and on the banks of the River Rhone, this townhouse dating from the 17th century has been fully renovated retaining many of the original features and is available for self catering holiday rental as well as being on the market for sale.
The house, which is on a quiet street in the heart of the medieval town, has spacious rooms with wooden beams and stone/tiled floors throughout. It has a large shaded courtyard with high stone walls and a tiled covered area at the back with a lockable storage space.
There are planters running along one side of the courtyard with bamboo, creeping jasmine and lavender amongst other flowering plants. There is plenty of space for entertaining and the courtyard could easily accommodate the addition of a pool.
On the ground floor there is a large gallery/dining room that will seat 12 people, This leads on to a spacious kitchen with stone kitchen tops with bespoke wooden doors offset with Moroccan tiles. The kitchen at present has a large kitchen table with seating for six, a free standing French dresser, a marble topped chest of drawers, large fridge, washing machine and dishwasher.
There is a small WC next to the kitchen with a handcrafted stone basin and Moroccan tiles.
The master bedroom is on the first floor and has an en-suite WC, wash basin and old claw-foot bath.
Also on the first floor is the living room with tall shuttered windows and a newly laid oak floor. It has a traditional Provencal fireplace with decorative plaster carvings. On either side of the fire-place are fitted bookshelves with cupboards underneath for storage.
On the top floor is the second bedroom with a tiled floor and french windows leading onto a balcony with a view of the old monastery that now houses the fabric museum of Souleiado opposite. It has an en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC with a large built-in storage space above.
At the back of the house is a large balcony that presently accommodates table and chairs, sun loungers, day bed and sun shade and overlooks the courtyard.
